There are many different systems of acupuncture in use today. The main type of acupuncture that I practise is the Japanese tradition of Toyohari.
This involves the very shallow insertion of extremely fine needles through the skin, and use of special techniques with a variety of unique metal tools to manipulate the qi by tapping, stroking or just touching on the skin surface.
Moxibustion is also used extensively in Toyohari treatment.
The treatment is very gentle and relaxing and does not cause pain. I find it very suitable for treating young children or adults who are afraid of needles.
